The Ankle-High Comet

A strange event in the region of Flanders was recorded in the winter months of 1312. A bright, blinding light like that of a star was seen travelling across the countryside a foot off the ground. It was easily approached as it moved at no more than a walking pace. It passed harmlessly through obstacles both inert and animal, produced a stench like brimstone and was heard to emit a constant, rumbling hiss. It was seen continually for over four weeks before finally moving out across the North Sea.
The cause of this most strange and unusual phenomena is still unknown to this day..
